Certifications

Finca Medina, has been a member of the National Association of Coffee and also a member of the Antigua Coffee Producers Association since 2002. This last one was created to ensure the quality and origin of Antigua Coffee.

Medina Farms meets standards for sustainable environmental production and has many initiatives directed toward rainforest preservation. It also supports different programs focused on the well-being of families who live and work on the farm. These initiatives and consistent community participation have credited the farm with the following certifications:

Rainforest Alliance

The certifications recognize environmental and social standards, they focus on conserving wildlife habitat, reforestation, and waste management recycling and reduction. The families in certified farms benefit from better working conditions, environmental education, improved housing, fresh water, and access to both schools and healthcare.

 

Specialty Coffee Association Member

It’s a classification system that evaluates green coffee quality and is internationally recognized. It’s granted by those who have been trained and qualified to taste any coffee under the standard SCA norm.

C.A.F.E. Practices

This certification was developed by Starbucks. It aims to ensure that awarded companies are committed to sustainable production.
